the milestone of "Global 20", currently holding a 20% share of the

Subsidiaries and joint ventures have been setup in a total of 38 countries, including 8 in North and South America, 19 in Europe, 9 in Asia and 2 in Oceania. Factories are located in 8 countries, including the U.S.A. and Canada. In addition, a sales network extends throughout 49 countries.
SMC Argentina S.A. was established in 1993 as one of SMC's overseas, fully owned affiliated companies to sell SMC products and offer service and technical assistance in Argentina. Local assembly of cylinders is also available to meet the requirements of Argentine customers. The headquarters is in Buenos Aires.

In 1966 SMC Australia was established as a joint venture in Australia. This was the first overseas industry, and in 1980 became a wholly owned subsidiary, SMC Pneumatics Australia Pty. Ltd. The head office is located in Sydney with the brances in the main industrial cities of Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. There are furthur 8 sub-branches and 20 distributors completing the network of sales and service of products in Australia. The plant in Sydney produces air cylinders, air dryers, large air filters, control systems, railway transport systems, and general fabrication. The main branches also manufacture control systems, and carry extensive inventory to provide the same day service of standard products. SMC Australia has extensive engineering and marketing divisions to service the sales department.

Established as an arm of SMC US in 1989, SMC Canada became a full fledged subsidiary in 1992 complete with manufacturing operations. Its headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario, has since expanded with branch offices in Montreal, Quebec, Kingston, Windsor and Vancouver as well as over 45 distributors nationwide. Mississauga, Ontario, the location of the headquarters and production facility of SMC Canada has the manufacturing capacity to produce eight thousand cylinders per month. We continually evaluate our products for performance and durability. Each and every SMC cylinder is put through a variety of quality checks before it leaves our assembly line. The majority of our piston rods are thread-rolled instead of cut, giving our rod threads a smoother finish and providing our customers with a stronger cylinder.

SMC Germany Pneumatik GmbH was established in 1978 for the purpose of developing the market in Germany, who has been a leader of the Machine Industry. With its head office in Egelsbach, the suburbs of Frankfurt, the company is actively developing sales and production activities. Sales offices are located in Hamburg, Bielefeld, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Berlin, Leipzig, Stuttgart, Kaiserslautern, Nürnberg and München. These sales offices allow prompt delivery and better communication with the customers' needs. Japanese staff are dispatched for smooth communication with the customers in Japanese factories and imported plants. Back in 1981 SMC invested in the Italian agency, Italpneumatica S.r.l. and as one of SMC's overseas affiliated companies, it changed its name to SMC Italia S.p.A. With the head office in Carugate (Milano), sales offices are scattered in Vicenza, Torino, Carsoli (AQ) and Firenze covering all of Italy with the help of 45 distributors. The head office is in Vitoria, north of Spain, and there are several sales offices throughout Spain. SMC Espana is also responsible for the sales offices in Porto and Lisbon in Portugal. SMC Pneumatics (U.K.) Ltd. operates from a purpose built complex in the new city of Milton Keynes, and bears witness to a long term programme of investment and comprises an extensive site, which is currently being expanded. Presently the site comprises of manufacturing/production, the warehouse, system build, training, and administration facilities. The expansion completed in 1997 allowed the increase to production of cylinders and valves to meet the specific requirements of customers in the United Kingdom and those of its sister companies throughout Europe. With the headquarters in Milton Keynes at the hub, SMC UK has introduced a network of regional centres across the United Kingdom. Centres presently exist in Cumbernauld, Belfast, Crawley, Gateshead, Bristol, Sheffield, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Birmingham, Poole, and Ipswich. Around the UK, SMC offers pneumatic training courses tailored to meet customers needs. The courses are full accredited by the City and Guilds of London Institute.
